About Bernard Baudry Chinon Blanc

Bernard Baudry Chinon Blanc is a biodynamic single-variety Chenin Blanc white wine made by Bernard Baudry in the A.O.C. Chinon, in the Loire Valley, France.

The grapes used to make the Bernard Baudry Chinon Blanc wine come from various plots lying on slopes with clay and limestone soils. The vines, which range in age from 5 to 15 years, are harvested manually. The grapes go through a slow fermentation in 500-litre oak barrels until the yeasts exhaust the residual sugar. This creates a dry wine, with a sugar content of less than 2 grams per litre, which is then bottled without filtering.

Bernard Baudry produces red wines with the Cabernet Franc grape and white wines with Chenin Blanc, which, despite the fact that the latter only makes up 10% of his 32 hectares of vineyards, results in expressive wines that are completely respectful to the landscape and created according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture.

Baudry comes from a family of winemakers and is one of the most respected producers in Chinon. An excellent connoisseur of the land that he takes great care of, and uses to make some of the area’s most elegant and popular wines.

2018 Bernard Baudry Chinon Blanc 2018 is an expressive and profiled white wine with aromas of citrus fruits accompanied by a mineral nuance. On the palate it is fresh, with a present but pleasant acidity.
