About Luis Pato Baga-Touriga

Luis Pato Baga-Touriga is a young red wine crafted by the Portuguese winery Luis Pato in Beiras (Portugal), using the indigenous varieties touriga nacional and baga.

This family-owned winery located at Quinta de Ribeirinho has been cultivating vineyards for over 200 years, but it was in 1970 that Joao Pato began producing his own wines. A generation later, Luis Pato placed the Bairrada region on the global wine map with wines that are robust, fresh, and possess a distinctive character.

Luis Pato Baga-Touriga is the result of blending two of Portugal's most prominent varieties; touriga nacional and baga. The cold and humid climate, coupled with the strong maritime influence, fosters grapes with high acidity and low alcohol content. These berries are cultivated through environmentally respectful agriculture and are hand-harvested at the optimal point of ripeness.

Once in the winery, the finest grapes are meticulously selected on a sorting table and destemmed. Luis Pato Baga-Touriga undergoes traditional vinification in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, followed by 6 months of ageing in these same tanks.


Luis Pato Baga-Touriga is a blend where the rusticity of the baga variety is complemented by the elegance of the touriga nacional. A red wine in perfect harmony.

2017

Luis Pato Colheita Seleccionada Tinto 2017 is a juicy red wine with delicious aromas of red fruit, violet notes and smoky hints. On the palate it is light, fresh and smooth. A wine with a grainy texture, well-integrated acidity and a long, very pleasant finish.
2016 Luis Pato Colheita Seleccionada Tinto 2016 is a smooth red wine with aromas of dark fruit and light notes of dark chocolate. On the palate it is fresh and balanced. It reveals good acidity and lively and fine tannins.
