About La Maldición Tinto Fino

You are likely familiar with the name Marc Isart. Associated with legendary projects such as Comando G and Bernaveleva, this viticulturist and oenologist is crafting some of the most intriguing wines on the current scene. Embarking on a solo venture, yet still connected to his previous endeavours, he begins his independent journey with Bodegas Cinco Leguas, where the aim is clear: to produce thirst-quenching, flavourful wines that seem as though the bottle has a hole at the bottom.
 
La Maldición Tinto Fino is one of the outcomes of this project, crafted from tempranillo and malvar (a white variety akin to palomino). Both grape varieties thrive between Chinchón, Belmonte de Tajo, and Colmenar de Oreja in old vineyards that had been abandoned and which Isart has revived to breathe life into this red wine. Throughout the winemaking process, no effort is spared to extract the best from these vines. Both varieties are harvested and brought to the winery, a former clothing factory that has been repurposed. The varieties are processed separately. The tempranillo is destemmed and crushed before being placed in cement tanks where La Maldición Tinto Fino will undergo fermentation. The must from the malvar, which has been pressed beforehand, is also added. La Maldición Tinto Fino matures for several months in the same concrete tanks.
 
Marc Isart has sought to return to the people the wines that peasants once drank. A wine to quench thirst. And with La Maldición Tinto Fino, he has achieved it!

2018 La Maldición de Valdilecha 2018 is a juicy red wine with aromas of ripe black fruit and spicy touches. On the palate it is pleasant, light and easy to drink. A wine with marked but well-balanced tannins.
