Tasting notes Karamolegos Vinsanto 2010

Sweet wine Aged in wood. 12 years in french oak barrels.

Intoxicating from the very first breath, Karamolegos Vinsanto 2010 is a sweet wine that unfolds intense aromas reminiscent of dried figs, toasted nuts, coffee, and chocolate melted in caramel. On the palate, it is sweet and profound, with a vibrant acidity that awakens the senses and balances its luxurious density. The finish is exceptionally long, like a warm echo that refuses to bid farewell. A wine to cellar... or to succumb to its captivating embrace today.

About Karamolegos Vinsanto

For centuries, the sun of Santorini (Greece) has not only sculpted incredible volcanic landscapes but has also been the silent accomplice to a legendary elixir: Vinsanto. At the Artemis Karamolegos winery, this ancient sweet wine finds a new dimension, born from a deep respect for the purest traditions and an obsession with excellence.

Artemis Karamolegos, heir to a family history that began in 1952, has skillfully combined the wisdom of the past with a contemporary perspective that honours the assyrtiko variety as the island's emblem. From their winery in Exo Gonia, Artemis sensitively captures the essence of the volcanic terroir, revealing in each bottle the complexity, strength, and delicacy of its origin.

Karamolegos Vinsanto is a tribute to patience and the beauty of time. Made from sun-dried assyrtiko and aidani grapes from century-old vineyards for 9 to 14 days. This dehydration results in a concentrated juice rich in sugar, acidity, and aromas. The must is slowly vinified before spending more than a decade resting in French oak barrels. The result is a sweet wine of immense aromatic richness, where notes of dried figs, candied orange, sweet spices, and cocoa intertwine, with a vibrant acidity that balances its seductive sweetness. Its velvety texture and persistence are simply mesmerising.

Ideal for concluding a special meal, sharing in an intimate after-dinner, or accompanying desserts with nuts or blue cheeses, or even a moment of meditation and tranquillity, Karamolegos Vinsanto not only embodies the sensual legacy and volcanic intensity of Santorini: it bottles it. And with each sip, it tells a solar, profound, and eternal story.
