Granbazán Veigalobos Albariño 2021 dazzles from the first glance with its intense ochre yellow colour, bright and clear. On the nose, it unfolds a bouquet of floral aromas, with white flowers, geraniums, and roses taking centre stage, complemented by notes of ripe fruits like yellow apple, fresh figs, and peach compote. There's also a gentle aromatic hint of apricot mousse, combined with a touch of fine herbs such as thyme and oregano. On the palate, it makes a powerful and balsamic entry, with a dense and savoury texture. Its saline nature, typical of an Atlantic wine, combines with a prolonged length. Granbazán Veigalobos Albariño 2021 is perfect for those who enjoy complex and aromatic wines, with a magnificent balance between elegance and robustness. Limited production of fewer than 3,000 numbered bottles.

About Granbazán Veigalobos Albariño

In 2018, Granbazán decided to view Albariño from a different perspective. After four decades of advocating for a classic and purist interpretation of the variety, the winery launched Granbazán Veigalobos Albariño with a very specific intention: to explore how far this grape could go when it steps off the beaten path and embraces a winemaking approach capable of revealing its full potential.
 
The project takes its name from Finca Cobas de Lobos, a small 2.85-hectare plot located in San Adrián, Cambados, by the banks of the Umia River. Here, the Albariño vines grow on a pergola system over sandy soil, constantly influenced by the Atlantic. These demanding conditions slow down ripening and favour fruit with great aromatic intensity and especially pronounced acidity.
 
From this vineyard comes Granbazán Veigalobos Albariño, crafted using ancestral vinification methods and conceived from the outset as an Albariño capable of evolving over time. The raw material and the landscape already provide the necessary tension; the work in the winery ensures this is complemented, allowing the wine to develop its full complexity without losing its identity.
 
The real difference comes afterwards. Once produced, Granbazán Veigalobos Albariño spends 26 months in the bottle, a long resting period that allows the wine to gain depth, harmony, and nuances. Here, time ceases to be merely a question of ageing and becomes an essential part of the wine's personality.
 
The result is an unusual interpretation of Albariño from the DO Rías Baixas: a white wine with great ageing potential, born from a particularly unique plot and crafted with the intention of demonstrating that this variety can also play the long game. Moreover, we are dealing with a true collector's item: fewer than 3,000 numbered bottles have been produced.
 
Granbazán Veigalobos Albariño is proof that even a house with such a defined identity as Granbazán can dare to change the rules. An Albariño of minimal production, matured over time and designed to reveal, glass by glass, all it still has to tell.
