About Château Ormes De Pez

There are surnames that have left a significant mark on the history of a wine region. Generation after generation, these families have offered up their passion, knowledge and dedication to viticulture and have contributed to the legacy and identity of the place. The Cazes family is a well-known family of winemakers and wine producers in Bordeaux, France, who have a long tradition in the wine industry, owning several prestigious châteaux in the Pauillac region, including Château Lynch-Bages, Château Les Ormes Sorbet and Château Ormes de Pez. The latter, owned by Jean-Charles Cazes since 1930, extends over 33 hectares and, thanks to its high-quality standards, its wines beautifully reflect the distinctive characteristics of the Saint-Estèphe region.

Sourced from gravel and clay soils, its namesake wine Château Ormes De Pez is a blend of the traditional varieties merlot, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and petit verdot. Respectful agriculture is practised in order to maintain the balance of such a prestigious terroir and, once the grapes reach their optimum ripeness, they are harvested by hand. In the cellar, fermentation is carried out with native yeasts in stainless steel and concrete tanks. Finally, the wine ages for 16 months in French oak barrels, 45% of which are new.

With an annual production of approximately 15,000 bottles, Château Ormes De Pez, the only wine classified as Cru Bourgeoises that is produced by this winery, is one of the Cazes family's great wines, ideal as an introduction to the wonderful world of Bordeaux.

 

2022

Château Ormes De Pez 2022 is a concentrated red wine with intense aromas of red and black fruit accompanied by floral notes and balsamic undertones. It is fresh, silky, and round on the palate. A wine with integrated freshness, present tannins, and a long and very persistent finish.
