About Blanton's Original Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey

In 1984, the world's first single barrel bourbon was launched, bearing the label "Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon." It was named in honour of Colonel Albert B. Blanton, serving as the finest tribute to a man who dedicated his life to preserving the tradition of handcrafted bourbon.

Colonel Blanton devoted his career to the production of fine whisky. He began as an errand boy and rose to become the president of the whisky plant. For over 55 years, he successfully led what is now known as the Buffalo Trace Distillery through the most challenging times of the 20th century: the distillery remained operational during the U.S. Prohibition with a special government permit, survived the Depression and the Great Flood of 1937 from the Kentucky River, and even managed to continue operating during World War II.
