About Barco del Corneta La Sillería

Barco del Corneta La Sillería is a white wine produced by the winery Barco del Corneta in La Seca, V.T. Castilla y León.


In 2008, Beatriz Herranz returns to La Seca, Valladolid, to start her new project at the family vineyards and recover the essence of Verdejo.

She cultivates all her vines following the standards of organic agriculture, respecting the variety, the soils and the climate. These vineyards are located in the natural site Paraje de Cantarranas, La Seca. Its soils are sandy, with a lot of boulders, and they are clayey and limestone-based in deeper strata. Climate is continental, with cold and dry winters.


Barco del Corneta La Silleríais part of the recovery project that Beatriz is carrying out alongside local wine growers with the local varieties of the area. La Sillería is born from a Verdejo vineyard which was recovered in 2013. This vineyard has 150-year-old vines, they grow on soils comprised by sand and lome, and they are located in the region of Tierra de Pinares (Valladolid) at 770 metres of altitude.

Grapes are manually harvested and placed in 15 kg boxes. They ferment in 300 and 500 litre oak barrels with local yeasts and they are left to mature for 12 months. After this, they are left in stainless steel tanks for 5 months.

2020

Barco del Corneta La Sillería 2020 is a luscious white wine with an invigorating bouquet exuding scents of white blossoms, citrus nuances, and hints of freshly mown grass. On the palate, it is velvety, pristine, and intricate. A medium-bodied wine with a vivid acidity, profound depth, and a mineral-laden finish.
2019

Barco del Corneta La Sillería 2019 is an exquisitely profiled white wine, suffused with the scents of white fruit, ripe fruit, and floral undertones. On the palate, it is rich, invigorating, and supremely graceful. This wine possesses a harmonious acidity and a subtle, delightful bitterness.

 

 
2016 Barco del Corneta La Sillería 2016 is a white wine with aromas of citrus, almond blossoms and notes of pastries and toast. On the palate it is unctuous, deep and very mineral with a pleasant bitter finish.
2015 Barco del Corneta La Sillería 2015 is a complex, mature wine with volume. The incorporation of wood stands out in this vintage, giving it structure without masking the varietal notes of the genuine Verdejo.
