Weingut Seckinger Savagnin 2024 is a wine that envelops you with its sophisticated complexity from the very first sip. On the nose, it surprises with a harmonious blend of fruity notes such as yellow pear and ripe peach, intertwined with a citrus hint of orange peel. Subtle floral aromas of chamomile and white flowers can also be discerned, complemented by a herbaceous touch and delicate notes of almond and green walnut. On the palate, it offers a silky texture with firm tannins. Its salinity and acidic structure achieve a perfect balance. About Weingut Seckinger Savagnin

There was a time when savagnin, also known as yellow traminer, vanished from the vineyards of the Palatinate (Germany). It was almost forgotten, with few willing to champion its cause. Fortunately, visionary vintners chose to revive it and give it a voice once more. Among them were three brothers: Jonas, Lukas, and Philipp Seckinger.

Their project, symbolised by the five points of their logo, represents more than just a name: it embodies values and philosophy. Each point signifies respect for the land, patience, collaboration, and meticulous vineyard care. At their Mittelhaardtt estate, they listen to the terroir, allowing each plot to express its unique character.

Arguably one of the most intriguing wines in the Seckinger range, the savagnin is a journey through time. To revive it, they rejuvenated an old gewürztraminer vineyard by incorporating savagnin genetics from Jura. The ageing process took place in partially empty barrels, allowing the formation of flor yeast, inspired by the wines of Jura.

Weingut Seckinger Savagnin is curiosity, memory, and patience personified. It is the tale of three brothers who resolved to restore to the Palatinate a forgotten grape, and with it, a piece of identity and heritage that deserves to be uncovered.
