About Quinta Do Crasto Superior

Quinta Do Crasto Superior is a red wine blend of the touriga nacional, touriga franca, sousão, and tinta roriz varieties, produced by the winery Quinta Do Crasto in the Douro Valley, Portugal.

The grapes used to produce Quinta Do Crasto Superior originate from the Quinta da Cabreira plots, owned by Quinta Do Crasto, located in the Upper Douro subregion. After harvesting, the grape clusters are transported in plastic crates to the winery, where they undergo sorting on a selection table before being destemmed and pressed. The resulting must undergoes alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures, and the resultant wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.

The winery Quinta Do Crasto produces still wines, fortified wines from Porto, and extra virgin olive oil, products derived from its 130 hectares situated at an altitude of 600 metres in a privileged setting of the Douro Valley. Leonor and Jorge Roquette represent the fourth generation of this family of winemakers, who currently manage Quinta Do Crasto, continuing the tradition of excellence that has distinguished the estate for centuries.

2020 was a warm year in the Douro, yet Quinta Do Crasto Superior managed to maintain balance thanks to the north-facing orientation of its vineyards, which bestowed freshness and elegance. On the nose, this red wine combines the intensity of wild berries with a delicate touch of spices. On the palate, it is enveloping and serene, with velvety smooth tannins and a precise acidity that lightens its maturity. The oak, perfectly integrated, leaves a subtle and persistent smoky echo at the finish, like a caress of noble wood burning with elegance and memory.

Quinta Do Crasto Superior 2018 is a vibrant red wine. Olfactorily, it is harmonious, exhibiting a sophisticated bouquet of red berries, rockrose resin, and cocoa. On the palate, it is invigorating, boasting a robust structure with ripe and robust tannins. The finish is refined and graceful.
