On the palate, it enters with a velvety and expansive texture, unveiling a juicy and dense substance where wild berries, sweet spices, and a subtle smoky nuance reminiscent of patiently crafted wood coexist. In the northern Rhône (France), in Cornas, the landscape alters its pace. The slopes become more demanding, the stone more prevalent, the air drier. Here, the people of M. Chapoutier work with a philosophy unchanged over time: allowing the terroir to speak uninterruptedly, even if its message is not immediate, even if it requires patience. It is a way of perceiving wine as something to be discovered, not something to be explained.
 
M. Chapoutier Cornas Saint Pierre is crafted from syrah grapes that ferment and macerate in concrete vats before undergoing barrel ageing. This red possesses the restrained energy of elevated terrains. Initially, it appears reserved, almost austere, but gradually a profound dark fruit emerges, accompanied by a spicy note and a texture reminiscent of damp stone at day's end. The ageing does not soften the message; it refines it, rendering it more precise, more enduring, more serious without losing warmth.
