About Gemma Miró La Lambretta

There are names that evoke nostalgia and bring smiles to our faces. "Lambretta" is one of them. In Italian, it refers to the Lambro River and the Lambrate district in Milan. There, in 1947, the legendary scooter was born, becoming an icon of Italian design and the youthful lifestyle of the 1950s and 60s. Swift, light, and nimble are the three adjectives that have always defined the Lambretta... and today they inspire a wine.

Gemma Miró, a biologist and winemaker, has established her oenological project in Priorat (Catalonia) based on her own history and the wisdom inherited from her grandfather, Jordi Escoda. In every reclaimed vineyard and every bottled wine, that intergenerational bond pulses, blending craft, memory, and landscape.

Thus, La Lambretta is born, a single-varietal moscatel wine from a 45-year-old vineyard situated on a very special estate, formed by the combination of three emblematic soils of the region: sauló, clay, and llicorella. The name is not coincidental; it harks back to conversations with her grandfather about that second-hand Lambretta on which he and her grandmother would travel to the estate, laden with small boxes to fill with grapes. Upon returning, they would always leave a box at home and sit to eat moscatel on the grandparents' terrace; the rest would go to the fruit and vegetable shop that her grandmother owned in Falset. A simple, familial, and endearing ritual, now bottled in this wine.

La Lambretta is crafted from the moscatel variety, harvested at its optimal ripeness and, once in the winery, macerated with the skins for a week to extract aromas and texture. The free-run juice is carefully handled and aged in cement tanks. It is a low-intervention production that seeks to capture the fullest expression of this unique vineyard and its history.

Fresh, aromatic, and imbued with a sense of reminiscence, La Lambretta is a nod to the past that, like that scooter, moves forward with a light and agile spirit, yet with an eye on the present.
