About Amós Bañeres Hey!

Many of us have entertained the thought of making a big change in our lives. However, not many actually go through with it. Amós Bañeres, a pharmacologist who was bored with his life in Barcelona, did see his dream come true when he left everything and moved to Penedès (Catalonia) in 2011. There he started a new career, dedicating himself to looking after the family vineyards and making natural wines. A small winemaking project where the priority is to listen to nature and only give it what it needs, with no added products. This can only be done by someone with a special connection to the environment and Amós has been more than successful with his limited production wines like this Amós Bañeres Hey!

Originally from plots located in the municipality of Bleda, in the heart of Penedès, Amós Bañeres Hey! is a cuvée of the Xarel·lo and Macabeo white varieties. These vines are planted on soils with vegetal cover, on argilo-calcareous soils and cultivated using sustainable methods and limiting the yield to only 4000 kg/ha. In the winery the Macabeo is directly pressed and the Xarel·lo is destemmed and macerated for 10 days. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in fibre tanks with native yeasts and then the wine is aged for 12 months with the Xarel·lo in barrels and the Macabeo in fibre tanks. Finally the wine is bottled without stabilising, clarifying or filtering and without adding sulphites.

A precision work that Amós Bañeres knows how to combine perfectly with his more spiritual side. A synergy in perfect balance that is clear to see in this Amós Bañeres Hey!

2020

Amós Bañeres Hey! 2020 is a defined white wine with fruity aromas of apple, lemon and peach, accompanied by aniseed notes of fennel. On the palate it is light, vibrant and crisp. A wine with plenty of vegetal acidity and an astringency that gives it a very good balance from start to finish.
