About Goliardo Loureiro

Goliardo Loureiro is a red wine that is produced by the winery Forjas del Salnés in the appellation of origin Rías Baixas.

Forjas del Salnés is a small family business established in 1912 that has been using traditional methods which have been passed down from generation to generation to the members of the Méndez family.

Since 1995, they have been working in collaboration with the great winemaker Raúl Pérez, one of the most influential characters on the Spanish wine scene. Working alongside Rodrigo Méndez, to create wines with a great personality and extremely high in quality.

Goliardo Loureiro is produced from the varietal Loureiro, a native grape that has been practically forgotten about in recent years, originating from old wines planted near to the sea.

The grape is destemmed and cold macerated. Goliardo Loureiro is fermented in steel containers and a controlled temperature for 12 months in French oak barrels of 225 litres used by 3-4 wines.

Goliardo Loureiro is a red wine from land that is more or less perfect for white wines with a strong personality for the varietal Loureiro, this brings it a special character.
If you would like to try this, do so in a hurry. Only 3,000 bottles were produced.

2012 Goliardo Loureiro is very fresh in the mouth. Elegant, intense, pleasant and light. Very good acitidy. A well-structured wine with marvellous balsamic and salty memories and a very pleasant fruity finish.

Beautiful cherry red with a purple border.

On the nose there is a predominance of aromatic fruits. Ripe black and red fruits combined with floral memories, herbal notes and toasted undertones. A pleasant mineral base.

Very cool and very pleasant aftertaste. Elegant, silky, intense and with good acidity.

Balsamic and salt memories.

Black fruit with floral notes, spices, toasted notes and great mineral background.
2010 Very fresh, with a very nice red wine, with a broad and embracing attack. The aromas felt on the nose are noticed again in a very good balance with its elegant, very delicated and refined saline background. Excellent acidity that refreshes its silky and intense mid palate. Integrated tannins and a long and very persistent finish.  A friendly, elegant and surprising wine.

Intense and bright attractive dark cherry colour with purple and intense red edges and a high robe. Dense slow-falling tears.

Intense aromas with a certain salinity that stays in the background and wraps the whole set. Intense and expressive notes of black fruits mixed with great notes reminiscent of the terroir. Its very creamy spicy notes, its elegant floral aromas and its great toasted aromas slowly emerge and melt into a great aromatic group.
2008 Intense , large and bulky attack. Velvety and smooth mid palate. Its well integrated notes of wood and fruit emerge along with some saline feelings. Good and marked acidity, but well appreciated as it gives a certain freshness to the wine and counteracts its warmth and power. Nice, long and very persistent finish. A very elegant, different and easy-drinking wine.

Intense cherry colour with purple edges. Dense tear.

Good intensity, with wood and balsamic notes in the foreground. When opened, the fruity and floral aromas increasingly gain intensity. Its spicy, herbal and milky notes form a good background. Very expressive and complex wine with very clean flavours.
