About Grifo Rosado de Lágrima

El Grifo Rosado is a rosé wine produced by Bodegas El Grifo in San Bartolomé, D.O.Lanzarote.

Bodegas El Grifo, founded in 1775 by the ancestors of the Otamendi Rodríguez-Bethencourt family, is the oldest winery in the Canary Islands and one of the ten oldest ones in Spain. 

All the vines owned by El Grifo are pre-phylloxera, planted on volcanic sand soils. Thanks to their location (latitude 28º), the growth halt must be intentionally carried out by pruning in February. And due to the constant presence of the "alisios", trade winds, they build volcanic rock walls to shelter the vines.

Bodegas El Grifo is located in the farm Finca El Grifo. They have 61.5 hectares of vineyards cultivated manually due to the abrupt terrain. The winery is currently equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, combining them with the traditional processes. The old winery is now a wine museum; one of the most visited.

El Grifo Rosado is a wine made from Listán Negro, from their own vineyards.

They are manually harvested and placed in 20-kg boxes. Grapes are selected by hand in the vineyards. After destemming and crushing, the grapes are vatted and macerated with the skins between 12 and 15 hours. Then, the bleeding is carried out and fermentation starts in stainless steel deposits at a controlled temperature, between 15-18ºC. Before it is bottled, the wine is clarified and filtered.

El Grifo Rosado is a sweet, expressive and fruity wine. On the nose, the aromas of fresh red fruit stand out, with delicate flowery notes. In the mouth, it is elegant and pleasant.

2023 El Grifo Rosado de Lágrima 2023 is a wine with pleasant aromas of red fruits (strawberry, black currant, raspberry) on the nose, accompanied by balsamic notes and nuances of tomato leaf, very typical of the Listán Negro variety. Deliciously fresh on the palate, with pleasant volume and balanced acidity.
2017 El Grifo Rosado 2017 is a fruity rosé wine with touches of raspberry, redcurrant and cassis and floral notes. On the palate it is fresh, elegant and voluminous. Well-balanced acidity and a most pleasant finish.
