Sometimes, the most heartfelt tributes arise from the soul, and Camillo Donati Il Mio Rosato Frizzante is precisely that: a homage to a mother, a woman who, although no longer physically present, remains in every sip of this unique wine. Camillo Donati crafted this sparkling rosé wine inspired by his mother, Rosetta, who always held a deep admiration for malvasia, albeit preferring the sweet version. After her passing in 2006, Camillo decided to honour her with a wine that, in some way, captured her essence, a wine that would be a perpetual reminder of her legacy.
 
The history of the Donati winery dates back to 1930, when grandfather Orlando planted a small vineyard in Arola, known as "Groppone," due to the steep slope of its lands, a name that in Italian refers to a hump or pronounced hill and reflects the inclination of this vineyard where the vines seem to cling to the earth in search of the sun and perfect balance.
 
Since those days, the winery has been a cornerstone in the Donati family, cultivating various grape varieties with a passion that has transcended generations. His son Antonio, and later Camillo, continued the family legacy, driven by a profound love for viticulture and respect for nature. Today, the winery remains a reflection of the dedication and passion for crafting wines that speak of the land, the family, and the history that has shaped them.
 
Camillo Donati Il Mio Rosato Frizzante is not a common sparkling rosé. Rather than following the conventional winemaking method, Camillo chose a natural and non-interventionist approach. Made from malvasia, a variety much cherished by his mother, and a small percentage of a red grape that varies, sometimes so mysterious that its name remains undisclosed, this wine is an exemplar of authenticity and purity. Each bottle reflects the affection and dedication of a family that has tended the land for over 90 years. Through meticulous winemaking, the result is a dry rosé wine, with delicate effervescence and a unique personality that remains true to tradition, while retaining its refreshing and elegant character. The Malvasia Rosa, as Camillo calls it, is a wine that has preserved the characteristics of Malvasia Aromatica di Candia, slightly softening its exuberant aromaticity, making it an excellent choice for pairing with appetizers and light dishes.
