About Bouza Tannat A6 Parcela Única

Bordeaux, the eminent wine region, produces some of the most prestigious and expensive wines in the world. Thanks to the best soils in France and superior wine-making traditions, its wines have established a status of true aristocracy. At the other extreme, Uruguay enjoys climatic and geological characteristics that are highly reminiscent of Bordeaux, which is why, as this country presents many similarities, its wines are an object of more intrigue and seduction every day. One of the wineries that is working hardest to bring awareness to the quality of Uruguayan wines is Bouza, a family-run project located in the metropolitan area of Montevideo that, under the premise of working at a small scale to ensure the very best results, has successfully situated its winery among the top 50 in the world.

In the case of Bouza Tannat A6 Parcela Única, we see a red wine originating from a single plot of 2.8 hectares composed of silty clay soil with a high percentage of limestone. The Tannat vines are located less than 35 km from the Atlantic Ocean and enjoy a temperate climate very similar to that of Bordeaux. Respectful agriculture is practised and the harvest is carried out by hand, one grape at a time. Once in the winery, the grapes ferment at a controlled temperature of 25ºC with two pump-overs and daily pigeage. The maceration takes place for a total of 19 days in French oak barrels, after which the wine ages for 16 months in new French and American oak barrels.
