About Viña Meín Tinto

When the history books of Galicia already recorded Meín in 1158 as a distinguished location for grape production, it was evident that this territory could not be overlooked. Thus, the Viña Meín project was born, with the aim of returning to the roots of the white wines of Ribeiro in Galicia, reviving the indigenous varieties that made its vineyards renowned in past centuries.

The endeavour continued with even greater vigour in 2019, when Alma Carraovejas, one of the most esteemed projects in the Spanish winemaking scene, took over the management of the winery. With the intention of crafting wines that embody identity, authenticity, and terroir, Viña Meín found the perfect setting: a historical legacy to be revitalised, applying their philosophy rooted in respect for the terroir, sustainable viticulture, and excellence in every bottle.

Viña Meín Tinto is a blend of the indigenous varieties sousón, garnacha tintorera, caíño longo, caíño tinto, brancellao, and ferrol. The grapes thrive in small plots scattered across the slopes of San Clodio and Gomariz, with diverse exposures and inclines. Just 1.7 hectares, yet each with a unique terroir that imparts a singular identity.

Each cluster is hand-selected, in boxes weighing no more than 12 kg, ensuring perfect ripeness and the highest quality. The vinification respects the uniqueness of each plot through micro-fermentations, and the wine then undergoes 10 months of ageing in stainless steel tanks of various sizes and a 600-litre barrel.

Resolute in reflecting its own identity, Viña Meín Tinto is a balanced, elegant red wine with character, embodying the strength and diversity of the most authentic Ribeiro. Will you miss out?
