About Soalheiro Nature

Soalheiro Nature is a natural Albariño variety white wine produced by Quinta de Soalheiro in the DOC Vinho Verde (Minho).

Quinta de Soalheiro is the small winery that the Cerdeira family founded in 1982 with the intention of promoting the Albariño variety in Portugal. Since their location in the town of Melgaço is an ideal place for growing this variety, it wasn’t long before they became known as parents of the Albariños in Portugal. A reputation they still have with productions like this natural wine.

The Soalheiro Nature vineyards are planted in granitic soils at an altitude of more than 150 metres above sea level. They are surrounded by a mountain range that protects them from adverse weather conditions. Here, the Albariño variety acquires an exceptional minerality. In the vineyard, organic techniques are used taking into account the surrounding biodiversity and wine-growing ecosystem. The grapes are harvested manually and taken to the winery immediately in small boxes.

Once the grape reaches the winery and is pressed, the Soalheiro Nature must ferments spontaneously in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts. When the wine is ready, it is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.

Soalheiro Nature is a natural white wine where the Albariño variety is taken to its limits to provide an aromatic intensity and a complex flavour.
2016 Soalheiro Nature 2016 is an aromatic white wine with notes of fresh fruit and a strong minerality. The palate is complex with a soft and round beginning and an intense and persistent finish.
