About Schoenheitz Pinot Blanc Val Saint Grégoire

There are many Pinots, but there is one place where these varieties reach their full potential. A place that, undoubtedly, would not be the same without the expert and, above all, respectful hands of vintners who know every corner of the terroir and every character of the grape as if they were their own.

Val Saint-Grégoire, the former designation of the Munster Valley in Alsace, is a paradise for pinot noir, pinot blanc, and pinot gris. The steep slopes of Wihr-au-Val, rising up to 500 metres in altitude, its unique microclimate and its granitic soils allow these varieties to develop pure, delicate, and at the same time, intense aromas and textures.

But it was not always evident. Since 1980, Dominique and Henri Schoenheitz, freshly graduated from the Beaune school of oenology, were the first and only ones to dare to bottle wine on these slopes. Their vision allowed the enormous potential of the terroir to be discovered and demonstrated that these grapes could shine beyond expectations. Today, their legacy endures through Jean-Philippe Manches, also the owner of La Grange Cochard in Villié-Morgon, Beaujolais.

Among the winery's notable wines, Schoenheitz Pinot Blanc Val Saint-Grégoire is born from 25 to 30-year-old pinot blanc vines, planted in highly decomposed granitic soils rich in mica, which impart minerality, freshness, and complexity. Each cluster, harvested with care and assembled with precision, results in a wine that conveys the valley's authenticity: elegant, vibrant, and full of character. A true legacy, the fruit of visionaries who discovered a terroir capable of turning each pinot into a unique expression.
