About Peñas Aladas Gran Reserva

Peñas Aladas Gran Reserva is a red wine from the DO Ribera del Duero, crafted by Dominio del Aguila in the village of La Aguilera, Burgos.

Dominio del Aguila is a winery established by Jorge Monzón and Isabel Rodero in 2010. Jorge began his oenology studies in Bordeaux and furthered his professional career at prestigious wineries such as Romanée-Conti and Vega Sicilia before joining Bodegas Arzuaga.

They cultivate 30 hectares of vineyard organically, with the main variety planted being Tempranillo, alongside other local varieties such as Bobal, Garnacha, and Albillo on clay-sandy-rocky soils, depending on the plot.

Peñas Aladas originates from a specific section of an 85-year-old vineyard located in La Aguilera. It is predominantly composed of Tempranillo at 85% and minor varieties such as Albillo, Bobal, Cariñena, among others. It was a traditional old planting framework where some other varieties, including some whites, were mixed.

Peñas Aladas Gran Reserva undergoes fermentation with whole grapes and its native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then racked into French oak barrels, where it remains for 55 months, maturing and refining slowly in the underground cellars of the winery.

Peñas Aladas Gran Reserva is a long-aged red wine, a classic style where excellent grapes and superior aging combine to create a remarkable wine.
