Niepoort Conciso Tinto 2022 is a wine of understated elegance, where forest fruit and notes of pepper and clove intertwine with a mineral backdrop that evokes the freshness of damp earth after the rain. About Niepoort Conciso Tinto

Niepoort Conciso Tinto is a red wine coupage made with Braga, Jaen and other red varieties. It is made by the Niepoort winery and is classified as a DOC Dão wine.

Niepoort is a winery founded in 1842 and run by the Niepoort family. They have worked with the Noriega family to make their wines for many years. They use traditional Portuguese techniques such as grape treading, fermentation in cement deposits and aging in pipes, 550-litre port aging barrels, whilst also using new technologies that allow them to take the best care of the grapes. The winery has vines in different locations, some of which are over 100 years old, and they have their aging room in Vila Nova de Gaia. 

The Niepoort Conciso Tinto vineyard is east-facing on the slopes of the Serra da Estrela and the vines are centuries-old. The soil is granite, and the varieties are already mixed in the field. The strains are over one hundred years old.

The Niepoort Conciso Tinto grapes are vinified in a press with half of the vintage destemmed. They macerate for a long time but without excessive extraction. They ferment for about 25 days and are aged for about 20 months in a large 2,500-litre wooden barrel. The wine is bottled without filtering or clarifying.

Niepoort Conciso Tinto is a fine and elegant Dão, without heavy fruit, which reveals the full potential of an old vine.

Niepoort Conciso Tinto 2023 is an elegant and characterful red wine. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe red fruits such as cherries and raspberries, accompanied by a hint of spice. On the palate, it presents itself as subtly mature and slightly full-bodied, with a fine texture and a concentrated profile. Its ageing in barrels adds an additional layer of complexity, making each sip a rich and balanced experience.

2015 Niepoort Conciso Tinto 2015 is a wine that offers a lot of fruit and complexity. Its aromas are fresh and clearly mineral, with berries, flowers and spices like pepper and clove. With a little time and air it becomes more delicate and precise. On the palate it has a medium intensity and is characterised by its fresh fruit and silky tannins. It is a wine with presence, elegance and great freshness. The finish is lingering, layered and delicate.
