Bodegas Montecillo, established in 1870, stands as a living testament to the most authentic Rioja. From its historic cellars (a type of underground caves traditionally used in Rioja for aging and storing wine) to its gravity-fed winemaking methods, the winery has managed to preserve the soul of the land while embracing innovation. Its enduring partnership with viticulturists and its commitment to sustainability imbue each bottle with a dedication that transcends generations.
 
Montecillo Blanco Fermentado en Barrica is composed of viura from vineyards over 60 years old planted on calcareous clay in Rioja Alta; tempranillo blanco, a Riojan variety from more clay-rich soil; and sauvignon blanc from the most easterly and cooler plots of the DOCa Rioja, planted at an altitude of 700 metres.
 
Each variety is vinified separately with care. Fermentation begins in raw concrete tanks and concludes in new and slightly used French oak barrels, where the lees work their magic, thanks to an intensive batonnage process lasting approximately five months. The result: a floral, fruity, silky white wine with a mouthfeel that caresses without overwhelming.
