About Massolino Barbera d'Alba
Many wineries have their star wine, the one that fills them with pride and gets them recognition and a seat around the best tables. However, it is in the result of every production that a project’s good work is really demonstrated. Wines that, although not as prestigious as their older sibling, express equally exceptional quality standards. This is true for Massolino, a winemaking family with a long tradition in Piedmont (Italy) that, as well as their splendid Barolos, their Moscato, Dolcetto and Barberas are equally admired. The key lies in their love for the land and their loyalty to typicity.
An example of their expertise is Massolino Barbera d'Alba, a wine made from 3 hectares in the village of Serralunga d'Alba. These are Barbera variety vineyards planted on predominantly limestone soil at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level. Respectful agriculture is practiced with a limited yield of 65 hl/ha and a manual harvest. In the winery, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and remain there for 6 months to preserve the variety’s acidity and fruitiness.
As a result, Massolino Barbera d'Alba is a sincere and authentic expression of the Barbera grape. A native variety that stands out for its nerve and expresses all the immediate elegance of a great Langhe wine.
