About La Salada Con barbas y a lo loco

We cannot ascertain whether Billy Wilder's uproarious comedy "Some Like It Hot," featuring the zany antics of Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, served as inspiration for the winery La Salada in crafting this blend of xare·lo and sumoll. However, what we do know is that La Salada Con barbas y a lo loco is a sulphite-free rosé that is bound to drive many wild.

The personal project of Toni Carbó at the heart of the D.O. Penedès, La Salada is unrestrained in unleashing its creativity. It begins with a commitment to its region by reviving native grape varieties on the brink of extinction, and all processes are carried out by hand without chemical products. A return to the origins, drawing on the expertise of their ancestors and proudly proclaimed with the most captivating labels.

The latest venture, La Salada Con barbas y a lo loco, is a wine crafted from 100% organic grapes. The grapes are crushed as in the old days, that is, by foot (50% are destemmed), and after a 15-day maceration in stainless steel tanks, the must undergoes spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts. To finish and refine, the wine remains in the same tank for 7 months. Once ready, it is bottled without filtration, fining, or added sulphur.

The result is La Salada Con barbas y a lo loco, a natural rosé that, like all wines from La Salada, is renowned for offering an authentic and honest expression of the Catalan terroir. A fresh and fruity sip to lose your mind over.

Mas Candí Con barbas ya lo loco 2019 is a fresh rosé wine with fresh aromas of red fruit and stone fruit. On the palate it is refreshing, juicy and very fruity. A wine with balanced acidity and a very stimulating salty finish.
