Mariotti Set e Mez is a fruity rosé sparkling wine with a playful bouquet of wild strawberries, raspberries, and spicy red plums. On the palate, it is dry, fresh, and somewhat rustic. A sparkling wine, sensuously intriguing and brimming with salinity.

About Mariotti Set e Mez

In tribute to the lifestyle of the locals of Romagna, in northern Italy, who spend summer afternoons enjoying piadina romagnola sandwiches and sipping bottles of frizzante wine while playing cards on the beach, Mirco Mariotti crafts a collection of natural sparkling wines brimming with sensuality, each named after various local card games.

Among his creations is Mariotti Set e Mez. This sparkling wine hails from ancient vineyards nestled in the heart of Bosco Eliceo, just 300 metres from the Adriatic, and is made from a rare and untamed local variety called fortana. The vineyard practices sustainable agriculture, and the grapes are hand-harvested at their peak ripeness. In the winery, the grapes are destemmed and gently pressed. This is followed by skin maceration lasting approximately 24 to 36 hours. Spontaneous fermentation extends over about two weeks, after which the wine is kept in cement tanks until it undergoes secondary fermentation. The second fermentation occurs in the bottle with selected yeasts, without prior clarification. Finally, it is aged for 12 months in the cellar before being released for sale.

The result is astonishing. Mariotti Set e Mez is an invigorating sparkling wine of remarkable transparency. So much so that, once poured, strawberries seem to leap from the glass. Undoubtedly, with this frizzante, the cards are on the table.
