About Louis Jadot Meursault

Have you ever wondered what makes a vineyard in Burgundy unique? The answer lies in the climats. These are small plots, each with its own microclimate, soil, and character, forming a mosaic that imparts distinctiveness to each bottle. This is how Maison Louis Jadot tends to its 15 hectares as if they were true gems, allowing each vineyard to express itself.

Louis Jadot is no ordinary winery. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henry Denis Jadot, it marries over 150 years of tradition with modern techniques, treating each grape cluster with care and capturing the pure essence of Burgundy in every bottle.

Among its exceptional white wines is Louis Jadot Meursault, originating from the heart of the Côte de Beaune, where the vineyards are situated on gentle slopes between 230 and 360 metres above sea level. The southeast exposure maximises sunlight, while the limestone soil with white marl lends minerality and structure, ideal for the Chardonnay, the sole variety used in this wine.

The harvest is conducted manually, using small crates to preserve each cluster intact. After a gentle pressing, the grapes ferment in barrels from Louis Jadot's own cooperage, one-third of which are new, to impart complexity and elegance. The wine ages for approximately 15 months on fine lees, developing freshness, depth, and that characteristic mineral touch of Meursault.
