About Kamara Stalisma Rosé
Did you know that "Kamara" holds a very special significance? Literally, kamara means "vault" or "vaulted room," and it's no coincidence because traditional Greek and Mediterranean cellars were often constructed in vaulted underground spaces, ideal for keeping wine cool. However, Kamara is not just a name; it evokes a protected, intimate place steeped in tradition, where something truly valuable like wine is stored. So when chemical engineer and oenologist Dimitris Kioutsoukis and his family established their small boutique winery, they knew this name was perfect. A dream he had harboured since childhood, when he discovered the magic of the vineyard and a passion for wine hand in hand with his grandfather, finally came to fruition in 2007, in Oreokastro, Thessaloniki (Greece).
From a natural cultivation system based on observing nature and minimal human intervention, creations such as Kamara Stalisma Rosé stand out, a wine that faithfully reflects the winery's philosophy. Crafted entirely from the indigenous xinomavro variety, it ferments spontaneously without the addition of commercial yeasts. After fermentation, it spends around 2 months in old oak barrels, where contact with the lees imparts volume, texture, and an added complexity.
Kamara is not merely a winery; it is a space where each wine tells a story, a place where tradition and innovation converge beneath the vaulted canopy of a passion passed down through generations, as reflected in their vibrant, fresh, and delightful Kamara Stalisma Rosé.
| 2022 | Kamara Stalisma Rosé 2022 is a wine that astonishes with its vibrant character. In the glass, it reveals an alluring cloudy pink hue. On the nose, intense aromas of sun-dried tomato and botanical notes unfold, accompanied by ripe strawberries, raspberries, pomegranate, and a hint of cherry. Its time in wood adds complexity. On tasting, it presents a medium body with smooth tannins and a fresh acidity that balance with a slight sweetness and a subtly oily texture. Dominant flavours of sweet cherry, strawberry, and sun-dried tomato culminate in a prolonged finish. Recommended for its surprising and complex aromatic profile and balanced acidity, making each glass an aromatic and gustatory delight. The 2022 vintage, characterised by its freshness, imparts liveliness to the wine and a unique expression of red fruits. |
