About Gut Oggau Josephine
Gut Oggau Josephine is a natural red wine made by the Gut Oggau winery in Neusiedlersee-Hügelland (Burgenland) with the Blaufränkisch and Roesler varieties.
Gut Oggau is an entire family of natural wines. Original creations with members of the family tree featuring on each of the labels. The people behind these wines are Stephanie and Eduard Tscheppe, a couple who began their winemaking journey in 2007, and who have now become real representatives of biodynamic wines in Austria with a limited production of 18,000 bottles per year.
Gut Oggau Josephine comes from 35-year-old vines planted in a plot with gravel and limestone soil. They use biodynamic agriculture (Demeter-certified) and no chemical products. They are constantly seeking to find the natural balance of the strain with ancient techniques. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum moment of ripeness.
In the winery, the grapes undergo spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with native yeasts in oak vats. Then Gut Oggau Josephine ages for 18 months in 500-litre oak barrels. It is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.
Gut Oggau Josephine is a medium-bodied red wine that is represented by the second generation female from this large family of biodynamic wines.

| 2015 | Gut Oggau Josephine 2015 is a concentrated red wine that reveals dark fruits like blackberries and cassis, and spices. On the palate it is powerful and structured, with hints of undergrowth. | |
