About Gran Duque De Alba Solera Gran Reserva Brandy

Born in 1945 and christened with the name of the Gran Duque de Alba, this iconic Jerez brandy boasts a history as captivating as its flavour. The origin of its name dates back to the friendship between the agent of Bodegas Williams & Humbert and Jacobo Fitz-James Stuart y Falcó, XVII Duke of Alba.
 
The agent of Williams & Humbert asked the Duke of Alba if he could name this brandy after him. Upon tasting it, the aristocrat suggested that, in honour of the grandeur of his ancestor, Fernando Álvarez de Toledo y Pimentel, the brandy should bear the name of this illustrious historical figure.
 
Gran Duque de Alba Solera Gran Reserva is crafted from selected distillates of white wines from the palomino and airén varieties. This brandy is the result of distillation in alquitaras (stills) at 65º, producing holandas (spirits) of the highest quality, which are aged in American oak casks previously seasoned with Oloroso wine and undergo the traditional solera and criaderas system, ensuring perfect balance and consistent ageing.
