About Giovanni Rosso Barbera d'Alba

"Wine should be the perfect reflection of its terroir." So says Davide Rosso, son of Giovanni Rosso, an oenologist with decades of experience, responsible for ensuring that each bottle precisely mirrors the land of Serralunga d'Alba in Piedmont. These vineyards boast over a century of history, with each generation leaving its mark.

However, if there is one standout figure, it is Giovanni Rosso, who, in the 1980s, modernised the vineyards, reconfiguring the plots to ensure only grapes of the highest quality, laying the foundation for the character of his wines. Following him, in 2001, Davide personally took charge of the vinification and élevage, bringing a contemporary vision and technical precision, aiming for each cru—Cerretta, La Serra, Broglio, Meriame, Sorano, Costa Bella, Lirano, and Damiano—to fully express its identity.

The result is evident in wines like this Giovanni Rosso Barbera d'Alba. The barbera grapes are organically cultivated and hand-harvested, selecting only the perfect bunches. In the winery, maceration lasts between 10 and 15 days, releasing colours, aromas, and structure. Finally, the wine ages in 50-hectolitre French oak barrels for 6 to 9 months, achieving gentle oxygenation that softens the tannins and imparts a silky texture.

Giovanni Rosso Barbera d'Alba is a clear expression of a terroir nurtured over generations, a vineyard designed for excellence, and the contemporary vision of its oenologist. It is the affirmation that this wine is the perfect reflection of its terroir.
