About Fuentenebro Blanco

Who claimed that Ribera del Duero's tales were solely penned in red ink? For years, amidst its high-altitude vineyards, small plots of albillo mayor have patiently awaited their stories to be retold. Fuentenebro Blanco emerges from this quest: to reclaim a forgotten fragment of the landscape and to demonstrate that the same land which empowers its renowned reds can also express itself with finesse.
 
From the quaint Burgos village of Fuentenebro, nestled in the heart of Ribera del Duero, Señorío de Nava revives the character of century-old vineyards situated over 900 metres above sea level. There, amidst limestone-laden soils and a climate of contrasts, the ancient albillo mayor vines grow slowly, encapsulating in their clusters the essence of an extreme terroir. This is not a white wine striving to mimic others, but a genuine interpretation of a landscape where altitude, cold, and the passage of time make all the difference.
 
The winemaking process aims to preserve this individuality without adding artifice. The fruit arrives at the winery with all its character, ferments in concrete vats, and gradually transforms into a wine where freshness coexists with an enveloping texture. Its time in barrels and the lees work impart depth and a silky sensation, allowing an elegant, mineral expression full of nuances to emerge, as if each layer reveals a bit more of the vineyard from which it originates.
 
Fuentenebro Blanco represents the other side of a Ribera that many believed they knew. A white wine to be discovered unhurriedly, around a serene table, when one wishes to be pleasantly surprised by those little secrets the land holds for those who know how to listen.
