About Enclòs de Peralba Betzinera

Asserting your professional opinions within a family business is not easy. And if you have been building an empire in a specific line of work for more than 6 generations, it is quite a mission. That is why, when Roc and Leo, the sons of Gramona’s current owners, asked to make their own wines, the answer was a resounding yes, but not within the same brand. This is how L'Enclòs de Peralba was born, a small project that, although not within the DO, showcases the Penedès winegrowing ways before the arrival of sparkling wines. With a name that is already a declaration of intent, (“enclos” is the Catalan equivalent of the French “clos” and “peralba” is the white stone found in the vineyards), they make pure wines with native varieties and minimal intervention.

Although the project is still in full development, the dynamism of these two young winemakers has created a small range that vindicates their way of seeing wine. This Enclòs de Peralba Betzinera is a white wine made with the native Xarel·lo variety from a plot of old vines on clay soil. They work organically and use biodynamic treatments. When the grapes reach optimum ripeness, they are harvested manually and taken to the winery. For vinification, the grapes are crushed and the must ferments spontaneously using unfermented juice.

Taking into account that in each of their wines they look for the most interesting plots of land in the Penedès, Enclòs de Peralba Betzinera reflects all the soul of this Catalan region located less than 50 km from Barcelona. A fresh, clean and balanced wine that proves the greatness and richness of the Penedès of old.

Enclòs de Peralba Betzinera 2020 is an aromatic white wine with notes of white fruit, citrus and herbal hints. On the palate it is light, fresh and balanced. A wine with a pleasant mid-palate, marked acidity and a fresh and round finish.
