With 35% alcohol, it doubles that of the classic version and reminds us of the curious English tradition of "proof": in the 16th century, sailors would test that gunpowder could ignite even if soaked with the drink, thus ensuring its strength. Today, the alcohol percentage is simply indicated, but the story remains a nod to the potency of this liqueur.
