About Cati Ribot Malvasia

When Cati Ribot took over the family estate in Santa Margalida, Mallorca, it seemed the path was already laid out. The market demanded robust wines, high in alcohol content and crafted from international grape varieties. At that time, Cati had no intention of deviating from the script. However, a period spent in Barcelona, studying to become a sommelier, altered the course of her story. There, she discovered an alternative way of winemaking, one that eschewed trends and standards, instead valuing the essence of each region.

She returned to Mallorca with a transformative vision: to demonstrate that her land possessed its own unique, rich wine identity. Delving into the roots of the past, she unearthed a hidden treasure in indigenous grape varieties, ancient methods, and a philosophy of minimal intervention. Thus, her project, Ve d'Avior (meaning "comes from the past" in Mallorcan), began to speak the language of nature, respecting the authenticity of the terroir and championing wines that are vibrant, juicy, and full of character.

Cati Ribot Malvasía is a clear testament to this philosophy. This white wine, crafted from hand-harvested grapes, reveals the delicacy and freshness of Mallorcan malvasía. Vines planted in calcareous and clay soils, rich in iron and gravel, reflect the Mediterranean character. In the winery, a partial maceration with skins and stems is carried out. Subsequently, the wine matures in 500-litre French oak barrels, alongside stainless steel tanks, to balance volume and acidity.

Cati Ribot Malvasía is a manifesto of what Mallorca can offer when its history is respected and passion is infused into the work. A wine that invites the rediscovery of the island through its roots, its freshness, and its authenticity.
