About Castro Candaz La Vertical

Castro Candaz La Vertical is a white wine from the D.O. Ribeira Sacra produced by Raúl Pérez Bodegas y Viñedos. This wine is made using only Godello (100%) grapes.

Castro Candaz La Vertical was conceived as an idea by Raúl Pérez. Pérez, who started his career in El Bierzo, was launched to fame when the 2005 vintage of his wine Ultreia de Valtuille, which was produced by the winery Castro Ventosa, obtained 98 Parker Points. A hard worker and creative mind, Pérez has undertaken projects that are recognised throughout the world. Among them, the collection Castro Candaz in the D.O. Ribeira Sacra, a collaboration with another prominent winemaker and friend, Rodrigo Mendez.

Cultivated in the municipality of Chantada, the grapes used to make Castro Candaz La Vertical are grown on steep slopes on predominantly sandy soils. The local climate receives strong Atlantic influences, even the areas near the riverbeds have moderately warmer temperatures.

After the harvest has been carried out and the grapes are transported to the winery, the grapes used for Castro Candaz La Vertical undergo the fermentation process. The various phases of the winemaking process are carried out using traditional methods. Castro Candaz La Vertical the ages in French oak barrels before being bottled and placed onto the market.

2013 Crisp and exceptionally well-balanced. It exhibits outstanding acidity.
