About Casa Sosegada
What if tranquillity could also be encapsulated within a bottle? At the upper reaches of Valle dels Alforins (Valencia), where the Mediterranean meets a more serene and luminous landscape, Casa Sosegada emerges, a red wine that beckons one to slow down and view wine from a different perspective. An honest expression of the Valencian land, far removed from the more predictable paths.
The story of this wine began in 2001, when Rafael Cambra commenced crafting his initial wines in a repurposed fruit garage turned small artisanal winery. Over the years, the project found its permanent home amidst the vineyards of Fontanars dels Alforins, around an old house that eventually lent its name to this red wine and encapsulates its philosophy: to work the land with patience, respect, and a more tranquil outlook.
Casa Sosegada is born from old bush vines cultivated at approximately 600 metres altitude, in a landscape where clay imparts warmth and limestone retains freshness. Here, monastrell coexists with traditional varieties that have been revived, such as arcos, forcallat, bonicaire, and rojal, resulting in a wine with a distinctive character, where Mediterranean fruit meets a lighter and more elegant sensation. Its time in egg-shaped concrete tanks aids in preserving that natural expression and enveloping texture that invites continued sipping.
Casa Sosegada is a red wine for those who relish discovering less-trodden paths. For an unhurried table, a conversation that lingers, or that moment when one desires to open something special without the need for an extraordinary occasion. Because sometimes the best way to return to the origin is simply to uncork a bottle and let time do the rest.
