About Cantina Orsogna Lunaria Ramoro Pinot Grigio Rose

The region of Abruzzo, in Italy, has traditionally been renowned for its straightforward and economical wines, characterized by the large-scale production of inexpensive bulk wine, crafted by a small group of large cooperative wineries. However, in recent years, the wine landscape has changed drastically. Abruzzo is emerging as a benchmark for high-quality artisanal wines, focused on its native grape varieties. This shift has been driven by a new generation of winemakers committed to sustainability and authenticity, dedicated to highlighting the unique characteristics of the Abruzzese terroir. With an emphasis on ecological and biodynamic practices, these producers are creating wines that not only capture the essence of the landscape but also a rich cultural heritage. A clear example of this movement is Cantina Orsogna, a project founded in 1964 by Camillo Zulli and six other winemakers, which has now evolved into a cooperative of over 600 farmers. Under the label Lunaria, Cantina Orsogna presents wines that combine the authenticity of the terroir with a strong and bold personality, accessible to everyone.

With this innovative and environmentally friendly approach, they present Cantina Orsogna Lunaria Ramoro Pinot Grigio Rose, a rosé wine made from the pinot grigio variety sourced from selected vines bearing the Demeter quality mark. This certification guarantees biodynamic viticulture where artificial fertilizers and chemical pesticides are prohibited, and the connection between the soil, animals, plants, and climate is of utmost importance. After a meticulous harvest, the grapes are gently pressed, and the skins remain in contact for 30 days. The subsequent fermentation is carried out in a controlled manner at low temperatures with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine ages in these same vessels for several months before bottling.
