About Cantina Orsogna Lunaria Ancestrale Malvasia Orange
The loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) and the green turtle (Chelonia mydas) are two iconic species of sea turtles inhabiting the Mediterranean, both of which are critically endangered. To address this crisis, conservationists and organisations are tirelessly working to raise awareness and promote protective measures for these magnificent creatures. Among them is WWF LIFE Euroturtles, which benefits from the invaluable support of Cantina Orsogna, an award-winning cooperative from Abruzzo that, under the Lunaria brand, staunchly defends environmental well-being. To this end, in addition to supporting initiatives like WWF LIFE Euroturtle, the winery specialises in indigenous grape varieties and sustainable winemaking practices under Demeter certification.
As a result of this philosophy, they present Cantina Orsogna Lunaria Ancestrale Malvasia Orange. This wine is crafted using ancestral methods from malvasia vines planted on clay and limestone soils at an altitude of 400-500 metres. The cultivation is biodynamic, prioritising the vineyard's microbiological life. The harvest is done manually, and the selected grapes are promptly transported to the winery. There, whole grape clusters are gently pressed to extract both the must and the native yeasts from the grape skins. The obtained must ferments in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. It is bottled unclarified, unfiltered, and without added sulphites.
The result is Cantina Orsogna Lunaria Ancestrale Malvasia Orange, a true homage to the biodiversity of its surroundings, expressed with vibrant aromas and perfectly balanced freshness and acidity. A unique sensory experience integrated into the IGP Terre Di Chieti, which, besides delighting the palate, supports the conservation of endangered marine species and contributes to a more sustainable future for our planet.
| 2024 | Cantina Orsogna Lunaria Ancestrale Malvasia Orange 2024 unveils a striking orange hue with amber highlights that captivate the light in a mesmerising manner. Upon bringing it to the nose, citrus notes reminiscent of orange and grapefruit emerge, accompanied by a subtle floral aroma that evokes wild roses. In the background, delicate herbaceous notes suggest the freshness of alfalfa. On the palate, it is an alchemy between a gentle sweetness that transports one to blooming fields and an intriguing lingering bitterness, offering a refreshing and vibrant sensation. This wine is recommended for its light character and the unique way it combines citrus and floral flavours, achieving an ideal balance between sweetness and a hint of bitterness. |

| 2023 | Cantina Orsogna Lunaria Ancestrale Malvasia Orange 2023 presents itself as a vibrant and refreshing wine. On the nose, it is notable for its intense aromas of dried apricots, candied ginger, and orange peel, which contribute a very pleasant freshness. On the palate, it feels creamy, with persistent bubbles that enhance its rich texture. An ideal choice for those seeking an aromatic and lively wine. |
