About Arienzo Crianza

Arienzo Crianza is a red wine from the D.O La Rioja produced by the winery Marqués de Riscal. This vintage winery was founded in 1858 by Marqués de Riscal, one of the main figures involved in the development of D.O Rioja.

The winery Marqués de Riscal can be found in El Ciego, in the extreme south of the Rioja Alavesa.

Arienso Crianza is produced practically exclusively from the varietal Tempranillo (90%) of which small percentages of Graciano (5%) and Mazuelo (5%) are added.

The grapes derive from vineyards located in the towns of Laguardia and El ciego, two of the most southern locations in Álava.

The harvest of this vintage of Arienzo Crianza started on the 17th of September. In as much, the production of wine is completed purely by traditional methods. The process of the alcoholic and malolactic fermentation are achieved in stainless steel containers at a regulated temperature.

After the process of fermentation Arienzo Crianza spends 18 months of ageing in Amercian oak barrels. Finally, after being bottled, the wine will spend a further 12 months to mature.

2012 Fresh and pleasant on the palate. A full and fruity flavour. Tannins are well integrated and good acidity. The finish ends on notes from the barrel.

Garnet red, high intensity with a hint of violet. Clean and bright.

Medium-strong intensity. Mature red fruit aromas with spicy and toasted notes.
2010 Extensive wine with character, initial fruit flavour gives way to notes of the barrel. Good acidity.
