Oloroso (75 cl.). 15 años en botas jerezanas.

Álvaro Domecq Oloroso Alburejo displays a dark chestnut hue with amber undertones, both clear and luminous. Its aromatic intensity is remarkable, with prominent scents of nuts accompanied by profound notes of wood and vanilla, indicative of its extensive ageing. On the palate, it is dry, warm, and velvety, with flavours of dried fruits and wood. Its persistence is enduring, leaving a long and memorable finish. This fortified wine is subtly full-bodied, unveiling a complexity that captivates the senses.

About Álvaro Domecq Oloroso Alburejo

For centuries, the world of wine in Jerez was dominated by male figures, but today women are making their mark on the viticulture and winemaking of the region. A clear example of this evolution is Pilar Aranda, the first female winemaker in the Marco de Jerez and the first to be chosen as Capataz de Honor at the Fiesta de la Vendimia. Nicknamed 'the queen of vinegar', Pilar inherited her father's wine storage business in the 1940s and, with her formidable character, established herself as one of the most influential businesswomen in the area, heralding a new era for women in the wine industry.

Decades later, in 1998, Álvaro Domecq Romero took over the winery with a steadfast commitment to preserving its history and tradition. His passion for Jerez, its wines, and his deep-rooted connection to the equestrian world led him to merge these two great legacies into a winery that reflects the essence of the region. Since then, his work has focused on honouring Pilar Aranda's legacy, combining respect for the winery's heritage with an innovative vision, while maintaining the authenticity that made it a benchmark.

One of the great exponents of this legacy is Álvaro Domecq Oloroso Alburejo, a wine that embodies the authenticity and character of Jerez. Made entirely from palomino grapes cultivated in albariza soils, rich in limestone and clay, this complex oloroso has been aged for 15 years in the traditional solera system. Its oxidative ageing imparts depth, structure, and a long, persistent finish, capturing in each glass the essence of the warm Mediterranean climate, gently influenced by the Atlantic.

As a result, Álvaro Domecq Oloroso Alburejo not only keeps alive the essence of the Marco de Jerez, but also stands as a testament to the legacy of pioneering women like Pilar Aranda, whose effort and determination paved the way for a new generation of women in oenology and viticulture. Her story is a reminder that tradition continues to evolve, and that the future of Jerez wine is also written in the names of women.
