About Ad Libitum Maturana Tinta

Ad Libitum Maturana Tinta is a red wine produced in Rioja by the Juan Carlos Sacha winery in Baños del Rio Tobia, La Rioja.

Juan Carlos Sacha is the person at the helm of this project, with 5.5 hectares of organically cultivated vineyards in the valley of Najerilla, La Rioja Alta. He has been one of the driving forces behind rescuing the area’s old varieties and going back to wine growing.

Ad Libitum Maturana Tinta comes from a clone rescued from old Maturana Tinta vines. At present, the vineyard planted in bush vines is about 15 years old. It is harvested manually into 17kg boxes, then later destemmed and introduced to 500 litre barrels where it ferments and ages for 11 months.
