About Xesteiriña Albariño

Recent studies show that the diversity and nutrients in foods decrease as the size of the farms on which they are grown increases. On the contrary, the level of nutrients in the products and the degree of agricultural diversity are higher when farms are smaller. This is the case in the D.O. Rías Baixas, since being a small wine-growing area defined by the smallholdings that are typical of Galicia, it has a deep wine-growing tradition that is admired all over the world. Focusing mainly on Albariño, a native variety known for its resistance to the area’s adverse climate, its wines offer quality and originality with a marked Atlantic character. At Acios da Xesteiriña, the personal project of three friends (Adrián Guerra, Víctor Cardona and José Manuel Domínguez), they demonstrate this perfectly with their Xesteiriña Albariño.

This is a white wine that comes from a vineyard of just one hectare with a special subsoil called Granodiorito de Sanxenxo, in the Salnés region, which is cultivated using respectful agriculture. In the winery, Xesteiriña Albariño is vinified in 1,000-litre stainless steel tanks and then aged for 9 months in stainless steel and 225-litre oak barrels. Very little sulphur is used in its production (barely 20 mg/l) and total production does not exceed 1,500 bottles per vintage.

The result is Xesteiriña Albariño, a white wine that is made through friendship, which invites you to discover the wonders of Albariño and small farms. A triumph of smallholdings.


 



 

2020

Xesteiriña Albariño 2020 is a defined white wine with aromas of stone fruit, citrus notes and mineral touches. The palate is edgy, fresh and rounded. A wine with a bright acidity that is typical of the variety but with a structure that accompanies it perfectly until the finish.
