About Solagüen Reserva

Solagüen Reserva 2014 is a Tempranillo Reserva red wine made in the D.O.Ca. Rioja by Bodegas y Viñedos Labastida.

In the 60s, a group of winemakers from Labastida (Álava) decided to create and sell their own wines, using cleric Manuel Quintana’s Bordeaux techniques from 1786 as a starting point. Now, Bodegas y Viñedos Labastida combines traditional processes with the most modern technology in order to preserve its identity and hold onto the highest quality.

The old vineyards where Solagüen Reserva 2014 comes from are planted in plots of clay-calcareous soil at an altitude of 450 to 650 metres above sea level. The strains are trained using the bush method (80%) and the trellis method (20%). The grapes are harvested by hand.

In the winery, Solagüen Reserva 2014 macerates cold and alcoholic fermentation takes place spontaneously with periodic pump overs. It ages for 24 months in American (65%) and French (35%) oak barrels.

Solagüen Reserva 2014 is a Reserva red wine produced in the cradle of Rioja Alavesa in the purest Bordeaux style.
