About Pierre Morey Bourgogne Aligote

Pierre Morey Bourgogne Aligote is an organic white wine aged on lees made by Pierre Morey with the Aligoté variety in the French denomination AOC Bourgogne Aligote, in Burgundy.
 
Pierre Morey was a winemaker at Domaine Leflaive from 1988 to 2008 and is considered one of the best white wine enologists in the world. The Morey family name has been associated with winemaking in the prestigious Chassagne-Montrachet region since the 16th century, and since 1973, Pierre has been working 11 hectares of vineyards in Meursault and creating pure and mineral wines. 
 
Pierre Morey Bourgogne Aligote comes from vines with an average age of 50 years old planted in calcareous clay soil. To preserve the expression of the terroir as much as possible, the team have been working organically since 1993 and biodynamically since 1998. Completely environmentally friendly cultivation that culminates in a 100% manual harvest. 
 
The Pierre Morey Bourgogne Aligote grapes are quickly transported to the winery and put through an pneumatic press. The must rests in a stainless steel tank for 12 to 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation is spontaneous with native yeasts in concrete tanks and malolactic fermentation takes place in wooden barrels. Finally, 80% of the wine ages in concrete tanks and 20% in small oak barrels for 12 months.
 
Pierre Morey Bourgogne Aligote is a Burgundy white made in the Meursault style. A single-variety Aligote that is well-balanced, fresh and lively. 
 
2018 Pierre Morey Bourgogne Aligote 2018 is a profiled white wine with complex aromas of fresh fruit, floral notes and balsamic touches. On the palate it is smooth, delicate and very balanced. A wine with a lively acidity and a mineral background with salty touches.
