Habla del Mar is an aromatic white wine with a prominent marine fragrance and herbaceous notes that evoke some species of algae, and shades of quince and chamomile. On the palate it is expressive with a vibrant acidity and an authentic sea minerality that gives way to fresh and floral sensations and a subtly saline finish.

About Habla del Mar

Habla del Mar is an underwater-aged white wine produced by Bodegas Habla using local Atlantic white varieties from coastal vineyards.

Bodegas Habla was founded in Trujillo (Cáceres) in 2001 with the intention of creating an international reputation for Extremadura wines. With a pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit, they have made themselves known for both their wine production and their use of design. Now they have gone one step further with Habla del Mar, a wine that, surprisingly, starts life in the depths of the sea.

Starting with traditional coastal viticulture, Habla del Mar is unusual in that it is made using from Atlantic white varieties of national origin and because it has no vintage. But if there is anything surprising about this wine, Habla del Mar, it is the unique way in which it is made. After a first alcoholic fermentation in the winery, it is aged underwater on its lees in 300-litre tanks, 15 metres under the sea, for eight months at a constant pressure of 3 bars. It is immersed in the Bay of San Juan de Luz, very close to the Bay of Biscay, in France. This is a whole new kind of wine that there is still so much to learn about.
