About Trasnocho

Trasnocho is an excellent wine with a strong fruity expression. Produced by Remírez de Ganuza, this wine demonstrates the wineries technical capabilites of creating great wines from the Rioja region.

Trasnocho is produced using, Tempranillo (90%), Graciano (5%) and Viura and Malvasía (5%) grapes. The grapes come from old vineyards which are on average 60 years in age.

The harvest is carried out manually, with the grapes being transported to the winery in 12kg boxes. This ensures that the grapes are in optimum condition on arrival. The grapes are then put in cold storage for 24 hours at a controlled temperature of 4-6 degrees. Following this, they are placed on a selection table, where the shoulders and tips are seperated. The shoulders are at the top of the bunch, and are there exposed to more sunlight. This results in maturer grapes, that will then go on be used to make the wine after being destemmed.

Trasnocho is the most modern wine produced by the winery, produced using totally innovative methods. The winery uses a system using a PVC water bag to press the skins gently and allow them to drain overnight. This releases 70% of the wine contained in the skins themselves. It is a simple yet effective technique, ‘that prevents any friction between the skins and therefore oxidation of the wine’. 

Fermentation then takes place in small stainless steel tanks and French oak vats. Finally, Trasnocho is aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels.

2016

Trasnocho 2016 is a red wine that unveils a spectrum of aromas, prominently featuring ripe fruits such as plums and black cherries, interwoven with a delicate hint of spices including vanilla and pepper. On the palate, its character is asserted with a rich and full-bodied texture, with mature tannins that provide structure while maintaining smoothness. An elegant, intense, and profound red wine.
2015

Trasnocho 2015 is a very fruity and deep red wine. Cherry red in colour, the nose is very elegant, with intense aromas of ripe red fruits and spices. The palate is very tasty, with a long finish. Very pleasant and flavoursome.
2012 Trasnocho 2012 is an intense, complex and elegant red wine. A new vintage of this great Rioja wine. On the nose, ripe black and red fruit, with elegant toasted and slightly balsamic notes. In the mouth, it is full-bodied, with volume and balance, and with a long and persistent finish.
2007 Excellent intensity and creaminess. Very fine and sweet tannins. Fruit very well balanced. Long, creamy and very persistent aftertaste.  Dense tears stain the glass.

Pretty picota red colour. High robe and dark. Ruby red rim.

Very intense nasal aromas. Jammy black fruits like plums and blackberrys combine with cinnamon, cloves and pepper spices.
2006 Its elegance, strength and silkiness will surprise us in the mouth. It has a wide and embracing attack with notes of fruit wrapped in creamy balsamic and toasted aromas. Its excellent acidity and its powerful tannins are well integrated. Its long finish leaves a creamy aftertaste with notes of fruit and toasted. A very elegant and serious wine, with a different style from the typical Reserva wines from La Rioja.

Nice and bright cherry red colour, with a high layer and purple edges. Elegant, creamy and highly coloured legs.

Its aromas are deep, serious and intense. Its note of red fruit appear on first nosing along with some creamy aromas. When swirling the glass, the notes of ripe black fruit emerge along with perfectly balanced and harmonious spices and refreshing and expressive balsamic and toasted notes on a subtle mineral background.
2005 The fruit and acidity in balance. Marked but nice tannin, excellent taste and eat with big game.

Bright colored wine and tear abundant Layer High, denotes his youth on the edge.

The first impression is of fruit on your perfect point of maturity and full menthol. The aromatic complexity of this wine is a clear reflection of the excellent vintage.
