About Pio Cesare Barbera D'Alba

Pio Cesare Barbera D'Alba is a single-variety Barbera red wine produced by the Pio Cesare winery in the DOC Barbera d'Alba in Piedmont, Italy.
 
The grapes used to make the Pio Cesare Barbera D'Alba wine come from family vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba and Monforte d'Alba, in the Barolo region, as well as Treiso, in the Barbaresco region and the Sinio and Diano d'Alba vineyards in the Langhe region.

The grape bunches go through a long skin-contact maceration for 20 to 25 days and then ferment in stainless steel tanks. The resulting wine is aged in large French oak botti for 12 months and then combined with a small amount of wine that ages in barrels.

This blend of Barbera grapes from the Barolo and Barbaresco regions gives the Pio Cesare Barbera D'Alba wine a great structure, body and complexity that balance with a smooth character, ripe fruit, spices, and great longevity.

The Pio Cesare winery was founded by Cesare Pio who started out making wines for his friends and family. Cesare Pio dedicated his life to making the best of Piedmont’s terroirs to produce high-quality wines that now, after five generations and more than 135 years of work, can be found in more than 50 countries around the world.
