About Pazo de Seoane

La Rioja bears no resemblance to Galicia. This was undoubtedly clear to the responsible members of La Rioja Alta when they decided to venture into Galician lands in 1998, acquiring a small and charming winery in the area of Fornelos, in Pontevedra, and they renamed it with the same name as the place: Lagar de Fornelos. Considering that a lagar, the most representative architecture of wine, is a construction of ancient tradition where grapes are trodden and pressed, La Rioja Alta embarked on this venture in pursuit of excellence in white wines.

Wines such as Pazo de Seoane Rosal, a blend of the local grapes albariño, caíño blanco, loureira, and treixadura cultivated in the most prestigious subzone of Rías Baixas. Vineyards that are cultivated using traditional methods, with grapes hand-harvested in small 20 kg boxes. In the winery, each variety is vinified separately until the final blend. First, only the grapes meeting the technicians' criteria are selected and cooled to 10°C for subsequent maceration over 10 hours. Then, they are gently pressed in an inert atmosphere to prevent oxidation, and the obtained must ferments at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Finally, the wine remains on fine lees until it is bottled and released to the market.

Being a benchmark of quality in Rioja, the La Rioja Alta winery in Galicia does not fall short and also gains recognition in Rías Baixas with wines like this Pazo de Seoane Rosal. A blend of indigenous white varieties that exudes remarkable freshness and aromatic intensity.
