About Larmandier-Bernier Longitude Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru

Larmandier-Bernier Longitude Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru is a Champagne made by the Larmandier-Bernier winery in Champagne, France.

“Blanc de Blancs” Champagnes are those made with white varieties only, like this Larmandier-Bernier Longitude Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Champagne made with Chardonnay grapes. These clusters come from vineyards like Vertus, Oger, Avize and Cramant in the famous Côte des Blancs region. This non-vintage cuvée contains 40% of the wines from the house’s perpetual reserve that started in 2004.

The plots where the Larmandier-Bernier Longitude Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru clusters come from are biodynamically cultivated. When the grapes reach the winery, they are gently pressed and the musts are very lightly clarified. They are then immediately placed in Stockinger barrels and vats where alcoholic fermentation takes place with native yeasts followed by malolactic fermentation, which begins spontaneously.

The base wines age with their fine lees for the first year. Blending and tirage take place in July so that the bottles can then age stacked for at least two years, to then be drawn off during the second fermentation.

Each bottle is disgorged by hand six months before being sold and a dosage of just 3 g/l is added, resulting in an extra brut Champagne.

Longitude, which means length, refers to the pure and straight style that is typical of this terroir with practically outcropping chalk in the vineyards.

Larmandier-Bernier is an important Maison de Champagne located in an exceptional area, the Côte des Blancs, in the heart of Champagne, where chalk is the cornerstone of this great terroir that Larmandier-Bernier works in an environmentally friendly manner.
